For Your Consideration: Zero Dark Thirty

Kathryn Bigelow surprised everyone when she won the 2009 Academy Award for both Best Director and Best Picture for her war related film “The Hurt Locker”. Fast forward three years, to 2012, and she hasn’t done a film since. Now, this December, her latest film “Zero Dark Thirty” is causing everyone to hold their breath, seeing if this will grab any nominations. With her previous win, you cannot count out Kathryn Bigelow as a contender in any category. Jessica Chastain had an impressive year, last year, garnering a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for “The Help”. With her leading role in “Zero Dark Thirty”, she has a very good chance of grabbing that nomination. Alexandre Desplat shows up again, with an Original Score and could easily grab yet another nomination for this film. Mark Boal took home Best Original Screenplay in 2009, with Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” and could do the same thing this year. With some stiff competition, there’s no telling how far (or how short) this film will go come Oscar night.
